Frances K N Ddungu Smith

Frances is the Chief Executive Officer and the Founder of The Arbitration and Mediation Society of Uganda (AMSU). She is a practicing Senior Legal Counsel in Uganda with Twikirize & Co Advocates – Kampala, an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda and other subordinate Courts. Frances is a member of Uganda Law Society (ULS) and the East African Law Society (EALS).
Frances was also admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales and has over 13 years of legal work experience in representing Local Governments and private clients in the UK with a remarkably high success rate of cases. Frances is the Chairperson for the UK Ugandan Lawyers Association; she is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in the UK and a member of the Africa Arbitration Association. She is also a member of The Law Society (UK), East Africa Law Society and active member of the Uganda Law Society who serves on the Arbitration Law Cluster, International Trade law Cluster as well as the Family law Cluster.

Simon is a Director for the Arbitration and Mediation Society of Uganda, and he also plays an advisory role to the Board of Directors and Senior Management of AMSU and ensuring that the ADR training AMSU delivers remain of high quality and match the international standard.
Simon has over 30 years’ work experience in International Commercial Contracting involving both litigation and Arbitration in the private and public sector. He is a member of the following institutes: The Chartered Institute of Management; The Institute of Leadership and Management; The Institute of Engineers and Technicians and he is registered with the Engineering Council in the UK.
