Mr. Basoga is one of AMSU’s skilled members with expertise and impressive experience in handling complex International Commercial Arbitration cases. Mr. Basoga is an advocate of the High Court of Uganda; he also lectures Alternative Dispute Resolution at different East African Universities.
Mr. Basoga has acted as Legal Counsel in various commercial disputes at the Ugandan Tax Appeals Tribunal, High Court, and Court of Appeal. He undertook a summer work placement in the Dispute Resolution Department at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London, United Kingdom. Mr. Basoga has worked with the International Law Institute, the Growth Continent Infrastructure Foundation and other commercial law firms based in East Africa. He co-founded the Tech Privacy Legal Lab, an organisation that is focused on promoting the responsible use of technology. Mr. Basoga is enthusiastic about career development and currently hosts weekly webinars to build the capacity of young East African professionals.
Mr. Basoga is a graduate of Jesus College, University of Oxford (UK) where he specialised in international commercial arbitration, commercial negotiation & mediation, among others. He also holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from Uganda Christian University where he was a recipient of the UCU Law Alumni Award for graduating as the best overall student. He completed the Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre where he graduated in the top 3 percentile.
